Sgt. McCall - Chris Parsons
Knowing they made a difference in someone's life is why so many officers wear the badge.
Well Done!
Compliments from the community and the people we serve are one of the highest forms of praise our officers can get. Knowing they made a difference in someone's life is why so many officers wear the badge.
Sgt. McCall was recently singled out by a man he had a number of interactions with, who is now in recovery.
If you have a minute, please read Chris P.'s story:
Chris P. wrote - "Today's theme most definitely will go down as a day of forgiveness and gratitude on so many levels. I finally got the opportunity to make an amends to a sergeant of the Dayton P. D. and was able to give him the antique metal badge I bought the other day. He is a really good guy. I wanted to try and get to know him as a person and not just a cop. But my street mindset wouldn't allow that.
All my life I have disliked cops you would never find me walking up and talking to one by choice. I am no longer that guy and today I got to see that they are people just like all of us. I presented him with the gift and he was shocked he literally said "nobody has ever given me something this nice before" tears welled up in his eyes and then mine. I have even invited him to my testimony next month.
He has slowly seen the change in me I pulled up to him the other day and he was like your driving I thought you was just an insider the whole time he is typing my info on his computer in the car lmao. I just laughed and said not even an unpaid ticket today sir. To have him tell me I inspire him today that he loves a good success story that is what this is all about.
The peace that came over me tonight was so amazing the tension eased and I felt accomplished. God bless everyone. And thank you to everyone that has helped me get thru these times I have some pretty good people in my life today. Thank you as well Sergeant McCall for the opportunity to let go."
Well Done Sgt. McCall & Best Wishes Chris on your continued recovery!
